Lake George Winter Carnival Broomball Tournament 2000 Results of the "Lake George Winter Carnival Broomball Tournament" held by the Adirondack Broomball League. Local league champs "Progressive Motorsports" held off "Mothers" of Puru 3-2 in this double elimination tournament. After losing 2-0 to "Greenes" of Oswego in the opening round, "Mothers" swept through the losers bracket defeating "Greenes" (3rd place) 5-3 in the semi-finals to meet up with undefeated "Progressive" in the finals. Trailing 2-1 with less than four minutes to go, Martin Turcotte (tournament MVP) blasted a shot off the face-off to tie the game 2-2. Moments later, Turcotte scored again with the game winning goal to give "Progressive" the victory. Turcotte was awarded with a "Labatts" fleece for is efforts, sponsored by Northern Distributing of Queensbury, who also provided "Labatts" t-shirts to the winning team. Hardest Shot Contest The event raised $160.00 for the "Adirondack Youth Hockey Association". Raffle David Mendofik was the lucky 50-50 winner to benefit the "Bay Ridge Fire Company" with $62.00 going each way. $60.00 more was raised for "AYHA". Hats off to Jessica "Sugar" Wood for selling all of those tickets during this two day event. Many thanks to Tadd and Adam Casey, proprietors of the "Full Moon", for hosting these events and especially Greg "Woody" Wood, league president, and his wife "Shell" for there many hours of never ending work and phone calls to make this tournament such a huge success. |
